Philosophy
Our Mission Statement
Hollybank Trust – offering quality of life … for life.
Our Aims
1. To respect the rights of the individual and empower them to exercise choice, so that they can achieve the highest level of independence.
We will achieve this aim by:
- Ensuring that all service users have equal opportunity of access to speech and language therapy, physiotherapy and occupational therapy
- Developing communication through the use of alternative methods
- Providing the most appropriate equipment to achieve maximum mobility and independence
- Offering opportunities for individuals to develop their skills within the least restrictive environment
2. To provide support for the individual, the family and carers.
We will achieve this aim by:
- Providing opportunities for individuals to express their feelings
- Regular meetings of the student council
- Assisting individuals to become individual decision makers
- Regular liaison with the family carers
3. To ensure our provision is at the leading edge of innovation, good practice, quality service and research.
We will achieve this aim by:
- Monitoring and evaluating our current provision
- Anticipating and responding to changes in legislation
- Researching and developing resources
- Working in partnership with other professionals and agencies
- Ensuring that our staff are continuously developed on recruitment and throughout their employment
- Adapting/adopting other examples of good practice
4. To maintain links and develop integration and awareness within the community.
We will achieve this aim by:
- Offering opportunities to share educational and social activities in a range of different environments
- Increasing the awareness within the community of the rights and needs of our young people
- Raising the awareness of others of the services provided by the Trust
5. To enable each individual to achieve the highest possible standard of education and development.
We will achieve this aim by:
- Providing a broad, challenging and relevant curriculum, which allows each child/young person to develop to their potential through an holistic approach by an inter-disciplinary team
- Ensuring that the post 16 curriculum develops each individual’s abilities to maximise their independence
- Providing realistic time limited individual training packages
6. To provide high standards of individualised care and support alongside high quality accommodation within a safe environment.
We will achieve this aim by :
- Following the intrinsic principles of Rights, Privacy, Dignity, Choices, Independence, Equality, Safety and Fulfilment
- Adhering to a rolling programme of maintenance and refurbishment throughout the properties administered by the Trust
- Developing and where appropriate providing high quality independent living options for people in their own communities in partnership with other agencies
- We will achieve the above through the School Improvement Plan, Holly Court and Roe Head Development Plan and the Rooftops Development Plan, which will form the basis of the overall Business Plan for the Trust.
