Fundraising

Support our work

Whether you’re an individual or an organisation, there are lots of ways you can raise money to support Hollybank. While we’re very impressed by the bravery and energy of people who raise money for us by diving out of planes or putting their physical strength to the test, there are also many who choose to keep their feet firmly on the ground and host bake sales or arrange fancy dress days at work. Whatever works for you, works for us!

Top Tips for Fundraising

  • Make it fun and keep it simple, choose a fundraising event you will enjoy – then have fun organising it and participating.
  • Make it achievable, be realistic about how much you can take on – devise a plan and recruit friends and family to help your fundraiser run smoothly.
  • Make it safe, make sure any facilities you use are suitable and are appropriately supervised.
  • Keep it legal, you may need a license if you’re holding an event and plan to provide alcohol, holding a raffle or lottery and organising any sort of public collection. Contact your Local Authority for help with licensing.
  • Check the rules around food hygiene by visiting www.food.gov.uk
  • Make it collaborative (the more people on board, the more you can share the work and spread the word).
  • Make sure you don’t forget to ask for the money!
  • Tell people why you’re supporting us, if you’re fundraising for a personal reason, share this with your supporters.
  •  Keep in touch, we’d love to hear all about your event and support you where we can.
  • Ask friends and family to sponsor you, every donation helps!

Leave a legacy

Leaving us a gift in your will and making a donation in lieu of flowers, or to mark the anniversary or birthday of a lost loved one, is a wonderful way to support the work we do.

Making a difference

“We wanted to do more than set up a direct debit! Seeing the impact of our funding locally was a huge draw for us at Treka Bus.”
