The Hollybank Trust Annual Golf Day

Thursday 19th June 2008
Huddersfield Golf Club, Fixby

Another successful Golf Day was held at Huddersfield Golf Club on Thursday 19th June, when, for the first time in 4 years, the players saw some sunshine!

Golf Day awards 2008.

The day began with the registration of 20 teams which had been entered by a number of our corporate supporters. After a light lunch and a whizz round the putting competition, the teams enjoyed 18 holes on the prestigious Fixby course, albeit sometimes battling against the wind!

When the players returned they were treated to a traditional 3 course meal with the Captain of Huddersfield Golf Club, before tension mounted for the all important prize giving. The deserving winners, who took home a luxury hamper supplied by Czerwik Cheese and Wine of Brighouse, were:

4th place

Nu Construction

3rd place

Lloyds TSB

2nd place

Michael Woodhead Charitable Trust, Team 2

1st place

Timothy Taylor & Co. Ltd.

Putting competition

Greg Robertson, Robertson & Baxter Financial Services

Nearest the Pin Competition

Eilir Morgan, Ring Automotive

Nearest the Whisky competition

George Dance, Ring Automotive

The day raised an impressive £5,500 for Hollybank Trust, and we couldn't have done it without the support of everyone who entered teams. Special thanks go to Ring Automotive, Nu Construction and Robertson Baxter Financial Services for their sponsorship and support of the event.

Italian Evening

Bertie's restaurant, Elland, had an Italian flavour when Hollybank's annual dinner was held there in April. The drinks, menu and décor were all Italian themed and there was a surprise twist when the waiters and waitresses, wowed the two hundred supporters by bursting into song with some of the finest opera music!

Italian Evening 2008.

The evening was supported by the Royal Bank of Scotland Group who helped to organize the event, and worked tirelessly with their contacts to gain some great auction and raffle prizes, such as a day at the F1 British Grand Prix, a flight in a fighter jet and hospitality tickets to see Neil Diamond in concert at the Manchester Evening News Arena.

We were delighted that Calendar newsreader Vicky Locklin (pictured alongside Peter Hall of RBS and Andy Lowther of RBS and Steven Hughes, Hollybank Trust Cheif Executive) was able to join us to host the event, and even organized a game of stand-up, sit-down bingo!

The evening was a great success and raised an outstanding £18,800 and counting ...

Hollybank would like to say a big thank you to everyone who helped to make the evening a success, whether it was by attending, organising, or donating goods and services. Thank You!
