Adult Services
Rooftops project
We aim to provide a combination of learning, social care, medical and therapeutic intervention in a safe and homely environment. We take great pride in the fact that we contribute to our local community and that we call on its resources to help our people. Social inclusion is one of our main objectives.
This applies particularly in the field of our adult services. The world around us helps to develop the skills of our service users by giving them the power to make decisions about their own lives. Our young adults attend Huddersfield Technical College, Dewsbury College, Joseph Priestley College, Bradford College and Keighley College. They take part in all kinds of courses, ranging from vocational classes such as pottery, music and art to functional sessions like cookery, numeracy and health.
Adult provision under our Rooftops project includes:
Willow Court
Willow Court caters for the needs of 18 young adults who have complex disabilities by providing an individual 24 hour care plan according to their identified needs. We have the ability to tailor day care to individual needs. We use rebound, hydrotherapy, aromatherapy, music therapy, college placements, night classes and direct input from IT service providers to vary our approach.
Most day care options are included in the fees, although some therapies require tenants to pay. Fees are assessed on an individual basis.
We work with people up to the age of 25 to prepare them for a transition either into a home in their own local authority area, or into one of our community homes. This ensures that they are fully prepared to take their new path to maximise their potential independence to their own abilities.
We have four community homes which cater for the needs of those who have left Willow Court and have chosen to stay with the Trust or new service users who have been referred through social services.
Parker Lane - Mirfield
Parker Lane - two large six-bedded bungalows (Briarwood & The Beeches) in the heart of Mirfield, five minute's walk from shops and leisure facilities and a short car ride from Holly Bank. They are decorated and furnished to a high standard and residents can personalise the decor in their own style. All rooms are single and shower/bathing facilities are shared.
At Briarwood the kitchen has electronically operated height adjustable units, the lounge-dining room is fitted with video and satellite television and a quiet room is available for private work and computer use. It is situated next to The Beeches - a similar development, but with a conservatory. Beside The Beeches is The Warren, a single bed-sit for supported independent living, allowing the skills and knowledge for everyday life to be developed
We never lose sight of the importance of self-responsibility. All three forms of accommodation are equipped to help those living there to achieve independence.
Dalecroft-Illingworth, Halifax
A five bedroomed bungalow on the outskirts of Halifax. Two of the bedrooms are en-suite with shared shower/bath facilities. There is also a one bedroom self-contained flat (pictured) for supported independent living. Dalecroft is a short walk away from the local shops and a short drive away from the local town.
The Three Pips, Fitzwillliam , Wakefield
A six bedroomed bungalow situated on the outskirts of Wakefield. Two bedrooms are en-suite with shared bath/shower facilities. The Three Pips is the Trust's latest community based accommodation and has been designed around the individual needs of those living there.
