Children's Services
In all our residential services we aim to follow the eight intrinsic principles of privacy, dignity, rights, choice, safety, equality, independence and fulfilment. We aim to understand and meet the individual personal, emotional, social, religious and cultural needs of our children, young people and adults.
We offer a range of living accommodation to suit different needs, but it all has something in common - a homely atmosphere. Whilst we cannot exactly match all that individual families provide, we strive to reproduce a family environment.
Holly Court (pictured) offers three purpose-built interlinking bungalows, each with 5 en-suite bedrooms. The bungalows have their own kitchen, dining, lounge and living areas and are designed to meet the needs of children and young people and are open all year round.
All the children and young people spend a lot of their time with our professional social care staff. They have lots of fun, but are continuously working within individual programmes, devised to help everybody reach their potential.
Roe Head accommodation (pictured) is located within the main building, is open during term time and some holidays. The accommodation provides 4 single bedrooms and 8 shared bedrooms.
All the children and young people are encouraged to take some ownership of their lives, making choices and being given the opportunity to express their opinions at residents' forum meetings. Integration within the community is encouraged with regular visits to local amenities including theatres, cinemas, sports venues, shopping centres, dance classes, museums and pop concerts. In-house facilities include the sensory rooms for relaxation, spa Jacuzzi pool, video and audiotapes, DVDs, CDs, and computers. Holidays are arranged for those on a 52 week placement with destinations depending on individual choice and needs.
All the children and young people have the opportunity to raise issues about anything which concerns them. Everyone is encouraged to take a positive role at Holly Bank. There are regular meetings with the children and young people, giving everyone the opportunity to raise issues of concern with the management of the home, School or Trust. The children and young people take an active role in organising their own leisure time and in the day to day running of the residential areas.
Developing a partnership with our parents is a very high priority at Holly Bank. We value parental input throughout the many aspects of life here. We have an open door policy, where parents are welcome to come into the home or school whenever they wish. There is a flat available for mums, dads, brothers and sisters to stay overnight or at weekends.
