Occupational Therapy

Achieving greater independence

Our Occupational Therapists work closely with Hollybank’s school and residential homes to encourage our children, young people and adults to take part in activities they need or want to do which allow them to have greater independence and fulfilment in life.

Catering for all needs

From making sure that our living and learning environments are adapted, to sourcing specialist equipment that meet the specific needs of each individual, our Occupational Therapists look at the everyday activities that our children, young people and adults find difficult and explore different ways for them to do it. This includes:

  • Assessment and provision of aids and adaptations
  • Supporting learning and development of skills
  • Modifying tasks to the person’s abilities
  • Multi-disciplinary approach with other therapies

Holistic solutions

Our Occupational Therapy team are all trained to understand the dynamic relationship between the person (physical, cognitive, social and emotional health), the activity to be completed (e.g. a leisure activity or washing and dressing) and the environment the task is to be completed in; providing them with holistic solutions to tackle the everyday tasks that most of us take for granted.

A word from our parents

“There really are no words to express what I would like to say, you have all been amazing, totally dedicated to your work and so supportive of all family members. Thank you so, so much for care!”
